Some say it is the most historically accurate cutlery ever made. The Man Gauche slasher closely duplicates a traditional cutlery weapon in form and function with a longer blade and a grip roughly the same size as a typical Japanese bokken. The longer blade on this slasher functions as a thrusting weapon and aids in offsetting heavy targets. The main gauche features deep fuller and tapering hilt typical of the Lombardy region of Italy France and central Europe and is the reverse of a Hilt-and-Pintlet combination. The Man Gauche is built from a stock of tempered steel with a heat-treated blade edge and features a tightly-woven leather grip with an oval cross section. The basic shape of the blade is based on traditional slasher cuts with a section of deeply-curved cutting edge. The main gauche has deep been sectioned and shaped to provide a strong cutting edge with full surface hilt engraving on the blade edge. The blade is carved from a single piece of imported Cocobolo wood. The two-piece handle is fashioned from several pieces of imported Cocobolo. The long multi-sectioned guard - with its two rounded surfaces - is decorated with a snakeskin pattern.
