It significantly reduces the risk of an exploded nut due to sliding. The crowfoot is designed to slide into place and hold the barrel nut firmly in place. The added benefit is that the barrel nut will rotate out of the way for removal. Crowfoot's unique double hex design requires a tool less assembly and an open center wrench for tightening.
