Opinel Workshop Folding Knife No.8 3.35in w/ Virobloc 12C27 Sandvik SS Walnut&Ebony Handle Wood. This handle allows us to recover the wood that would have otherwise been scrapped.The result is a mix of walnut and ebony with two veneers bringing these two species together. A 30 cut is made at the heel then the walnut and ebony are assembled glued and pressed. Once worked and shaped the handle is finally buffed just like all the other handles manufactured in this workshop. The No8 is the most sold and versatile size in the ever growing line of Opinel folding knives. This knife is small enough to be used as a pocket knife and its 3 1/4" blade prevents it from being considered a weapon in most states (please check with your state). This Knife features the Virobloc Safety rings. Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955 the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives sizes No6 through No12. Cut out of stainless steel the Virobloc has two sections one fixed and one sliding. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient regrinding. 12C27 modified stainless steel is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40percent provides an excellent cutting edge.
