The first major change that we made to the SOP Sling was to change the attachment straps from solid 1" straps that attach to the weapon to flexible 1" straps that attach to the weapon adapter mounts or sling swivels. The 1" straps allow the SOP Sling to move more efficiently with the weapon and conform to the sling loops in order to allow the SOP Sling to move more efficiently with the weapon thus enhancing free movement of the weapon and allowing the weapon to hang in a more vertical orientation while being used in the Military Patrol Ready carry mode. The next change is that we made the sling webbing 1.5" wide to better distribute the weight of the weapon. The third change has to do with how the sling is attached to the weapon. We added flexible attachment straps at the ends of the sling which move shift and conform within the sling loops to allow the SOP Sling to move more efficiently with the weapon. The last change was the addition of a Transition Release Buckle (TRB) to the sling to allow the sling to be quickly and efficiently extended to instantly create slack. The TRB also allows the sling to be quickly and efficiently dropped from the side of the weapon to hang in an off-side drop position to the front of the weapon.
